This regulation is formulated in order to maintain a good order of teaching and learning and cultivate the good learning habit of the students. The Regulations shall be interpreted and implemented by the International Education School of Kunming Medical University.
Chapter 1 Application for Leave for Newly-enrolled students
For these newly-enrolled students, in case of special circumstances or emergency, they must ask for leave in advance by submitting the applications with the parents’ signature. Students’ application for leave (as a rule, no more than 2 weeks) is subject to the final approval of the Administrative Section of Students’ Affairs. Absence without permission or delay when the leave is due, with the exception of force majeure, will be regarded as the voluntary withdrawal.
Chapter 2 Application for Leave for Students during the Study Session
Article 1 Sick Leave
Students who can't attend class due to illness must hand in the certified evidence issued and provided by the hospital or the affiliated hospital of Kunming Medical University. Sick leave for less than two days is subject to the approval of coordinators. Sick leave within one week is subject to the approval of the coordinators and Administrative Section of Students’ Affairs. Sick leave for more than a week but less than a month is subject to the approval of the International Education School after approved by coordinators and Administrative Section of Students’ Affairs. Those students who need to leave for more than a month shall suspend their studies after the approval. In case of emergency, oral application or application by phone is acceptable. However, the due procedures are needed after the emergency.
Article 2 Private Affair Leave
Generally, leave for private affair is not permitted. In case of special circumstances or emergency, the due procedures are required. Private affair leave for less than two days is subject to the approval of coordinators. Private affair leave within one week is subject to the approval of the coordinators and Administrative Section of Students’ Affairs. Private affair leave for more than a week but less than a month is subject to the approval of the International Education School after approved by coordinators and Administrative Section of Students’ Affairs. Those students who need to leave for more than a month shall suspend their studies after the approval.
Article 3 Public Affairs
Those students who ask leave due to the participation into the cultural, sports and other public activities, the organizing departments shall advise and submit the activities information for approval of International Education School in advance.
Article 4 Extension of Leave
Those who need to extend their leave should follow the same procedures as that of asking for leave. The timely reply will be given to those who ask for the leave extension
Article 5 Resumption from Leave
Students shall come to the International Education School for resumption from leave when their leave is due. Resumption information shall be informed to coordinators.
Article 6 Others
1. Those students who ask for sick leave, personal affair leave, as well as public leave shall submit a written application The Leave Application Form for International Students at Kunming Medical University (see appendix 1). After returning, students shall go through the same formality to resume from leave in the submitted The Leave Application Form for International Students at Kunming Medical University.
2. The following documents, including the written application for leave, certified evidence issued by the hospital, and the written approval from the related department, will be archived by coordinators for future reference. Those students who ask for leave for accumulatively more than one month in one semester, or those who are absent for accumulatively one third of the total classes due to long-time treatment, will suspend or withdrawal of their study in our school. Those students who are absent from class for successively two weeks without any permission will be regarded as giving up ones’ status of student and will consequently drop out of school.
3. International students of Chinese medium, as well as postgraduate students, shall follow the ask-for-leave regulations of each relative schools and submit to International Education School for future reference.
